COMMUNICATIONS

In October of 2008, the Forest City Police Department discontinued the Police Communications and Dispatch. All county police and fire dispatch are currently handled at Rutherford County Sheriff's Department at their Central Communications Division. Those needing assistance should call 911 for all police emergencies within Forest City and Rutherford County. The administrative number for Rutherford County Central Communications is 828.286.2911. Those needing to speak to FCPD staff during regular business hours or those wishing to leave a message for FCPD staff after hours may call 828.245.5555. Follow the voicemail instructions and you can be directed to the staff with telephone services. Those needing to speak to police staff after hours may do so by calling Central Communications. FCPD operates under a Watch Commander structure of supervision. The department has a supervisor serving in this capacity seven days a week and 24 hours a day in the event that you need to speak to a supervisor.

RECORDS

Police records may be obtained in-person during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM at Forest City Police Department. Incident and accident reports may be available within two business days of the incident. There is no charge for copies of accident and incident reports. Those wishing to have their incident or accident reports mailed to them may do so by mailing a request to Forest City Police Department at 187 South Church Street, Forest City, NC 28043. The request needs to contain a pre-posted, self-addressed envelope for return service.

Criminal records checks are not available at Forest City Police Department. Criminal records checks may be obtained in-person at the Rutherford County Clerk's Office.
