Animal Control

Forest City Police Department will respond to animal control issues as they occur.  The response will be by an animal control officer Monday through Friday during regular business hours.  After hours and weekend responses to animal control issues will be by Forest City Police Department patrol officers.  The Watch Commander will make determinations as to the after hour response by our animal control officer.  Officer James Greene serves as a full time sworn police officer as Forest City Police Department’s Animal Control Officer.  Those needing a response from our animal control officer should call Rutherford County Central Communications at (828) 286-2911. 


Officer James Greene

On July 7, 2008, Officer James E. Greene began his career with Forest City Police Department. Officer Greene came to Forest City after 12 years of service with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office serving as a Sergeant and Director of Animal Control for Rutherford County. While with the sheriff’s office, Officer Greene also worked as a Detention Officer and a Road Patrolman.

 

Officer Greene holds certifications by the State of North Carolina as a Rabies Vaccinator for dogs/cats, as a Euthanasia Technician and in chemical immobilization of animals by Safe Capture International.   Officer Greene received his national certification for animal control from the National Animal Control Association in July 2005.

 

Officer Greene currently serves on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Animal Rabies Control Association and he has formerly served as a member of the North Carolina Animal Rabies Control Association and National Animal Control Association.

 

Officer Greene is married to his wife, Julie, and they have three children, Cameron, Connor, and Callie.
