NC Cardinal
The NC Cardinal consortium consists of over 60 North Carolina counties and their libraries joining forces to offer better support amongst their peers, offer more material for their patrons, and to create everlasting results that make each library valuable. Member libraries in NC Cardinal share an online catalog and integrated library system (ILS), and share resources with other member libraries.
NC Cardinal’s mission is to provide, maintain and continually develop an efficient, sustainable library system for public library users and library staff within North Carolina.

- Member libraries (224 locations) represent 64 counties throughout North Carolina
- 921,600 checkouts per month (average in 2023)
- 101,681 holds filled per month (average in 2023)

Patrons have the ability to search for items, place holds, and manage their library card account via the NC Cardinal catalog.
NC Cardinal is a program of the State Library of North Carolina, supported by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Federal Library Services and Technology Act. NC Cardinal was conceived in 2009 has been operating since July 2010.
