The Town of Forest City Launches the Burnt Chimney Social District

 

Forest City, NC: The Town of Forest City proudly announces the launch of the Burnt Chimney Social District on July 1, 2024. This district will allow patrons to enjoy alcoholic beverages responsibly as they explore and enjoy the array of attractions and businesses within the designated area. Named in homage to the town's original name, the Town of Burnt Chimney, the social district embodies Forest City's rich heritage while fostering a lively, modern community atmosphere and is designed to enhance social engagement, support local businesses, and promote economic growth.

 

Key Features of The Burnt Chimney Social District:

  • Responsible Alcohol Consumption: Patrons can purchase alcoholic beverages from approved ABC permittees and carry them in designated containers throughout the district. This setup encourages responsible enjoyment of drinks while exploring the area.
  • Dining and Shopping: The district features a variety of local restaurants, retail shops, and more. Visitors can enjoy a meal or browse unique products while carrying their beverages into participating establishments that allow alcohol inside.
  • Pedestrian-Friendly Environment: Enhanced walkability, attractive landscaping, and views of the Pavilion on Park Square Amphitheater will encourage visitors to take their time enjoying the district's offerings in a safe and pleasant setting.

 

Beginning on July 1, 2024, the Burnt Chimney District will operate during the following hours:

  • January 1 - November 30 10AM to 10PM daily
  • December 1 - December 31 10AM to 12AM daily

 

Alcoholic beverages consumed within the social district must be in specifically marked cups purchased from ABC permitted establishments. Defined boundaries of the Burnt Chimney District will be clearly marked with signage.
