UTILITY LOCATOR & ASSET MANAGEMENT

 

The Town of Forest City is accepting applications for Utility Locator & Asset Management.


Applications will be accepted at City Hall, 128 North Powell Street and via email HR@townofforestcity.com beginning Thursday, December 5, 2024 until filled.

This position performs a variety of skilled work locating water and sewer lines. Work involves the operation of construction equipment in the installation, replacement and repair of water and sewer pipes to specific grade and depth, and back filling and compacting the site. Work also includes making taps to water and sewer mains, installing hydrants, meters, and valves, reading meters, and making repairs to the water and sewer system. Position is subject to working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils. Work is also subject to the final standards of OSHA on blood borne pathogens. The position is subject to on-call and call-back work.

The position calls for a well-qualified applicant to maintain asset management software and mapping system. This work requires maintaining, editing, and creating new maps for all infrastructure needs. Knowledge of operation and appropriate usage of equipment; basic map reading; utility locating practices
and procedures; GIS; GPS; GPR (ground penetrating radar); principles of customer service; basic mathematical principles; and equipment including computers and handheld mobile devices.

Applicant must have a high school diploma, and experience in locating utility lines is preferred. Hiring salary for this position starts at $42,209.00-63,314.00.

FIREFIGHTER/EMT

 
The Town of Forest City is accepting applications for a Firefighter/EMT.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must have a valid NC Driver’s License. Must have valid Class B CDL or obtain within 6 months of hire. Preferred applicants shall have a NC Firefighter Level II certification and NC EMT Basic certification or obtain within 6 months of hire.

Successful applicants must pass a physical/agility examination, drug test and criminal background check prior to employment. Hiring salary for this position starts at $44,319.00.

POLICE OFFICER

The Town of Forest City is accepting applications for the position of police officer with a minimum starting salary of $45,252. Salary consideration will be based on experience. Additional benefits include: Prudential NC401K with a 5% employer contribution, death and disability income with Hartford Life Company, membership into the NC Retirement System, State Employees Health Plan/provided to the employee at no cost, 12 paid holidays per year. Lateral new hires may transfer accumulated sick leave.

Preferred applicants will have a good knowledge of modern police practices, laws relating to arrest, search and seizure, apprehension of criminals and traffic control. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must: possess NC General Law Enforcement Certification, high school diploma/GED, have no felony convictions and a valid NC class “C” driver’s license. Prior to employment, applicants must successfully complete a physical/drug screen examination, psychological, polygraph and extensive background investigation.
